1999 — present

The builder

Ali C. Hantal has been building companies since 1999.

He co-founded Mezun.com during the early days of the commercial internet, building businesses that connected international education, technology, and cross-border markets. Mezun.com was recognized as the fastest-growing company in the Baltimore-Washington region in 2004.

Over the following two decades, Ali built and operated ventures across the United States, Europe, Türkiye, and emerging markets, developing extensive experience in entrepreneurship, international expansion, technology commercialization, education, and strategic partnerships.

Today, he is Founder & CEO of XR Masters, where he leads the development of MyGeoVerse, a spatial computing platform focused on AI, geospatial technologies, augmented reality, and the emerging spatial web.

That operating experience shapes his approach to advisory work. His perspective comes not only from analyzing markets and technologies, but from building products, developing partnerships, entering new markets, raising capital, and making the kinds of decisions founders and executives face every day.

AI & spatial computing

The strategist

Ali's work has increasingly focused on a major shift in computing: AI moving beyond traditional screens and becoming more aware of people, places, and the physical world around us.

He advises organizations on spatially aware AI, spatial computing, AI glasses, audio-first interfaces, geospatial technologies, XR, and the strategic opportunities emerging from their convergence.

His work includes helping organizations evaluate new technologies, develop product and innovation strategies, establish testbeds, create geospatial academies and training programs, and translate emerging technology into practical business and institutional initiatives.

His approach is deliberately pragmatic. The objective is not to adopt technology simply because it is new, but to understand which shifts are durable, where they create meaningful value, and when organizations should invest, experiment, partner, or wait.

Standards & interoperability

The standards leader

Ali has spent years working at the intersection of spatial computing, geospatial technology, interoperability, and open standards.

Through leadership roles in the Open AR Cloud Association and participation in organizations such as the Open Geospatial Consortium and the Metaverse Standards Forum, he has contributed to efforts around GeoPose, spatial discovery, interoperability, and the development of an open spatial web.

This work gives him a perspective that extends beyond individual products or vendors. He looks at emerging technology not only through the lens of what platforms can do today, but also through how technologies, standards, ecosystems, and markets are likely to evolve together.

His work has included international tutorials, workshops, demonstrations, testbeds, and standards initiatives involving universities, technology companies, research organizations, and industry groups.

U.S. & international markets

The international bridge

Ali has spent much of his career working between the United States and international markets.

Having built companies and partnerships across the United States, Europe, Türkiye, and emerging markets, he understands both the opportunity and the friction involved when organizations cross borders.

He works with founders and companies entering the U.S. market, organizations expanding internationally, universities building global partnerships, and technology companies seeking relationships with institutions, industry networks, and strategic partners.

His role can range from strategic advisor to hands-on representative, helping organizations understand a new market, position themselves effectively, build the right relationships, and establish credibility before making a larger investment in local operations.

Education

The educator

Education has been a recurring thread throughout Ali's career.

He previously served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Baltimore, teaching Operations Research and Marketing, and has spent decades working at the intersection of education, technology, entrepreneurship, and international programs.

Today, that experience informs his work with universities, EdTech companies, technology centers, and training organizations exploring AI, immersive technologies, geospatial computing, and new approaches to teaching and workforce development.

He continues to teach through executive workshops, university programs, industry tutorials, standards initiatives, geospatial academies, and hands-on technology programs.

Origins

The person

Ali's approach to strategy started long before his career in technology.

He began his university studies in philosophy at Boğaziçi University, where studying thinkers such as Descartes under philosopher Arda Denkel helped develop an instinct for questioning assumptions and breaking complex problems down to first principles.

That way of thinking has stayed with him throughout his career. Whether evaluating a new technology, entering a market, building a company, or advising a leadership team, he tends to begin with the same questions:

What is actually changing? What matters and what is noise? What assumptions are we making? And what should we do about it?

For Ali, good strategy ultimately means turning those questions into practical decisions and action.

Outside of his business and technology work, Ali is also a Red Cross-certified lifeguard and a certified Somatic Breathwork Practitioner, reflecting a longstanding interest in human performance, resilience, and wellbeing.
